Obama Pals with Terrorists!

Holy Jamolies! Obama is unpatriotic and pals around with terrorists!

Well, at least to hear Sarah Palin talk of it. While in Colorado this morning, Palin seized on the New York Times article about former weatherman Bill Ayers and Obama (which concluded that the two men were not close) to say, “This is not a man who sees America as you and I do — as the greatest force for good in the world,” and “This is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country.”

This could be just the gift we are looking for.

Thus far, it has been rather fringy to talk about Palin and her husband Todd’s association with the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP) which has been a violently anti-American secessionist group for a few decades. We are all pretty familiar now with the president of AIP’s statement, “The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred of the US Government” and “And I won’t be buried under their damn flag. I’ll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home” as well as the top-40 favorite, “I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions.”

Now Obama was neither close to Ayers or a member of his anti-American group, but Todd Palin was a member of this group for years. And although Sarah was not officially a member, she courted the group for years as well, even speaking this year at their annual convention.

The main takeaway from the NYT article, if anything, is that a connection is less likely that has been bandied about. But the best part of this is that Palin has now opened the door to discussions about anti-American behavior and she has more to lose on this front than Obama.

And WOW if this doesn’t fortell what is to come in the next 40 days… it seems clear that the McSame/Pain ticket are bound and determined to use any and all methods to simultaneously try to take the presidency and destroy what little vestige of honor they had left.

Pathetic. Catch a broader version of the story at TPM.

BAH!!!!! You beat me to it on this one.

    DAMMMM YOUUUUU!

I have been trying to find some more solid info on the AIP stuff, but it’s all so convoluted, that it looks a lot like erasure via obfuscation.

  2. perkiset says:

LOL I’m the one that feels like second place mate, you’re way more on it than I am lately.

(For those reading, check BD’s post re. the same topic HERE)

  3. Edgar says:

“There has been a lot of interest in what I read, and what I read lately well, was reading my copy of today’s New York Times and I was really interested to read about Barack’s friends from Chicago,” Palin said. “OK, now I get to bring this up not to pick a fight, but it was there in the New York Times, so we’re gonna talk about it.

“And it turns out one of Barack’s earliest supporters is a man who according to the New York Times, and are they ever wrong, according to the New York Times was a domestic terrorist and part of a group of that, quote, pushed a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol,” Palin continued. “Wow. These are the same guys who think patriotism is paying higher taxes. This is not a man who sees America as I see America, OK?”

She’s safe man. The NYT broke the story first and she’s talking about it like everyone else.

This is not good for Obama though. Remember those undecideds? Wait until they hear about this for the next month!

I guess we’ll see huh? MuHahaha!

  4. braindonkey says:

most undecideds are well educated. I don’t think this will play at all. The guy committed his crimes 40 yeras ago. Most groups and bad actors during vietnam have been pardoned since then as well and have gone on to quite big things. He is now a university professor, and from some of the other things i have read, quite active in the community, and highly active promoter of education.

The fact that Obama has had some exposure to him, even if it was as far as having been to his house once, is in reality a non-thing. I do think however, it will polarize further the Obama Haters who only hear what they want to hear.

On the plus side, I am hoping this is the “I hate whitey” tape that we have all been waiting for to drop.

  5. perkiset says:

@ Edgar, Not good for Obama – I beg to differ. This really is a non-thing. It’s meaningless. Except that it opens the door for Obama to raise the issue of her association with the AIP, which thus far would have looked really shitty on his part. Now that she’s opened the door, it gives him more room to attack her.

And since her and her family’s association with that organization is real and Obama’s is faint at best, this is actually not good for HER.

  6. Edgar says:

“Now that she’s opened the door, it gives him more room to attack her”

The New York Times opened the door.

    “This really is a non-thing.”
Bombing your country is never a non event.

“and since her and her family’s association with that organization is real and Obama’s is faint at best”

The aic pales in comparisson to a real terrorist group that bombs their own country.

“The guy committed his crimes 40 yeras ago. ” So in 40 years we can forgive Osama Bin Laden?? He was connected to bombing in the US ALSO.

“I do think however, it will polarize further the Obama Haters who only hear what they want to hear.”

These are just the facts. People deserve to know the WHOLE truth.

He’s got connections with the nation of islam, ayers and attended a radical church lead by a radical preacher for 20 years. But hey, he went to harvard so he must be ok. Yeah, he sounds like a true, selfless patriot.

  7. perkiset says:

This is just distraction. Ayers did his bit when Obama was 8 years old man. Obama didn’t do this, he was a casual acquaintance of someone that did – and BTW, paid their price to society and is now a professor.

Palin and her husband are not only associated, they are members (he is anyway) of the AIP. For a Governor that is sworn to uphold the Constitution of the US, being involved with a group that wants to secede from it seems interesting.

But the bottom line is that this is all academic. We now see Palin and McCain throwing barbs about this guy, Rev. Wright – you name it. It’s going to be a damn free for all from here out. And to defend his lead, Obama will need to attack back about things like the Keating 5, the AIP, McCain’s shitty naval record, you name it- IMO, if we thought it was ugly thusfar, I don’t think we’ve seen anything yet.

Which goes right to judgement and honor on McCain’s part to my way of thinking. Scorched earth, do anything say anything politics is hardly the mark of an honorable man. And it certainly isn’t a different kind of politics. He’s just an old man with a power thirst and has sold everything he ever was (or at least appeared to be) for a shot at the presidency.

Desperate and pathetic. Not someone that should be President.

“He’s got connections with the nation of islam, ayers and attended a radical church lead by a radical preacher for 20 years. But hey, he went to harvard so he must be ok. Yeah, he sounds like a true, selfless patriot.”

Funny Edgar, all of this is VERY old news that the public has already heard and it hasn’t stuck with the public and hurt Obama’s standing at all.

You want evidence?, Obama is beating McCain across the board in all the polls right now. Obama is beating McCain with an 8 point advantage in today’s CNN tracking poll, a 5 point advantage in New Mexico, a 6 point advantage in NORTH CAROLINA, a 4 point advantage in Nevada, an 11 point advantage in Pennsylvania, a 6 point advantage in OHIO, a 13 point advantage in New Hampshire, an 8 point advantage in Minnesota, and a stunning 12 point advantage in Virginia which hasn’t voted for a Democratic candidate for President in something like 40 years.

Read the polls below and weep, and let’s hope your guy McCain keeps up his ‘winning’ strategy.

PS: Obama very smartly waited until the last weeks of the campaign to introduce the Keating 5 story into the campaign. This is especially effective at this point, as the public is focused 100% on the economy, and the Keating scandal is so similar to the current economic crisis, and McCain’s role as one of the Keating 5 is such a perfect tie-in with the current crisis, that this attack on McCain will stick. Ayres and Wright are old news, and they look like a desperate attempt by McCain & Palin to change the subject. The Keating 5 story hasn’t been brought up this whole campaign by Obama, and it is newly relevent, given the current economic disaster, brought to us by the Republican Party and its policies of excessive deregulation.

  9. perkiset says:

Brilliant SFNate – hadn’t thought of the K5 issue and the current economic crisis – makes a lot of sense. If things maintain current trends then I think we’re all set… but see my next post about what is still worrisome.

I’ll not be settled until I hear McCain concede.

  10. Get Real says:

McCain and Palin need to focus on what the American people really want to hear: the economy.

When they go off making harsh and false accusations, such as the one Palin has been ranting off for several days, that Obama is palling around with terrorists, they start to lose credentials and trust from the American people.

Voters are smarter than that and know that this is simply a smear campaign, because the McPalin’s road to the White House has come to an end.

They will lose independent voters (which they need) if they continue on this ridiculous streak.

So far, the polls speak for themselves with Obama in the lead.

  11. Edgar says:

Oh, Ayers is a PROFESSOR now! So is that kook in Iran, Ahmedinejad (spelling?).

Bill Ayers paid his debt to society? The most damning evidence (which he openly admits too and brags about, and has for years) was not allowed to be submitted to the court due to a loophole. So, he should have been cooked in the chair.

Let me just imagine now if what you would say if it were John McCain who had ties to terrorists…

@”You want evidence?, Obama is beating McCain across the board in all the polls right now.”

The same polls showed Kerry equal with Bush right before the election. The result of course was a historical landslide win for bush.

What you have to understand is that cnn is a left leaning news network. They will selectively report whatever they want in order to support their political agenda. Don’t be so gullible.

This guy Obama (who is he anyways?????) is running for president and he’s got ties to all kinds of dubious characters. Terrorists even. You are all willing to forgive this scumbag Ayers but what if one of his bombs killed your mother? Oh, it’s ok I guess…He’s a PROFESSOR!!

Partisan thinking which smacks of obstinance. Incredible how you are all willing to overlook these things.

  12. SFNathan says:

“The same polls showed Kerry equal with Bush right before the election. The result of course was a historical landslide win for bush.”

Edgar, if you call Bush’s 51% win in 2004 a landslide, then you are full of it, and really aren’t worth wasting our time on here.

And you don’t have to watch CNN to get political reality. Did you catch the 2006 election when the Democrats beat the daylights out of the Republicans? They covered it on Fox too…

Also, not that you seem to care about facts, but below is a tracking poll from September through November 2004 that shows Kerry was tied or trailing Bush throughout September, October and November 2004. Kerry wasn’t anywhere near where Obama is right now.

    Here’s the data: http://www.pollingreport.com/wh04gen.htm

Get ready to be splashed with cold, hard reality in your face on November 5th. Your guy is about to lose big time my friend, and we are about to win, and there’s not much you screeching “Ayers, Ayers!” can do to change that.

  13. braindonkey says:

lol i didn’t notice the “landslide” comment. I wonder, is that really what fox calls/called it? Thats like a basketball game with a score of 101 to 100, and a winning player comes out and says, “we KICKED their asses!” lol

  14. perkiset says:

I also love the “CNN is a left-leaning news network…”

That’s so Fox of you. MSNBC is a left leaning news network. CNN is about as split down the middle as can be. But the righties have tried so hard and for so long to drag the middle line over to the right that anything dead middle is seen as Liberal.

The bogeymen of “Liberals” and “Socialists” and “Communists” have just about run their course for you. It would seem from the polls that the American people understand this handily.

  15. unitedcrown says:

I have no knowledge of whether this issue is true or not. I believe guilty by association should not apply here even if Obama knew this man. But this lady went way off the map with this.

  16. unitedcrown says:

After watching a clip of it (it has been hard to get the actual footage.) She said domestic terrorist, which is major, but seems there was a media frenzy on this also.
