What are your New Year’s Resolutions?

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? If so, do you keep them? Do you write them down and look at them throughout the year?

I hear all the time from people all over talk about making resolutions, and then by the end of the January, they are gone - never to be heard from again!

Why is that? Why do people go on diets at the beginning of the year, but by February, they have forgotten all about it?

What do you think?

The Holidays

So what do you do to take away stress around the holidays and make this time of year easier? I would love to hear your feedback. It boggles the mind how much there is to do in such a short amount of time! I try to keep organized with lists upon lists, but the time seems to run away from me, juggling work, the kids and holiday prep. Tell me what you do to make it easier!

Life Lessons

From one parent to another - what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?

Here are some of mine:

To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do is let themselves be loved.

To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.

To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.

To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love, and it can take many years to heal them.

To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.

To learn that there are people who love them dearly, but simply have not yet learned
how to express or show their feelings.

To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.

To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves.

3 kids - 3 schools

Having 3 kids, 2 in elementary school and 1 in high school, all going to 3 different schools makes life very challenging these days. We are an organized family, but life just seems to get busier and busier.

I am wondering who may have a suggestion on things they do to keep themselves, or should I say their kids organized. I would love to hear your most favorite tid-bit, or suggestion. Nothing is too far out…

So tell me, what is your favorite secret?

Breast Cancer - have a mammogram!

With the close of Breast Cancer Awareness Month upon us, it is important to take a personal inventory to be sure you are updated on your mammogram and well check. With all the attention put on breast cancer during October and the information provided about mammograms, ultrasounds and MRI of the breast, mammograms and physical breast exams are still the best way to detect breast cancer early. If you haven’t had your yearly mammogram, make your appointment today!

Being a 7 year survivor and speaking from experience, you need to be in control of your personal health, you need to be proactive, and you need to go to a breast cancer specialist who can detect breast cancer in its smallest and earliest stages. Not all radiologists are created equal, so you need to go to the most experienced radiologist out there. I know just the one!

If you are not aware of Arizona Breastnet in Scottsdale, go to www.AZBreastnet.com and read about Dr. Belinda Barclay-White and Breastnet. It is top notch! After the tech does your mammogram - on a digital machine - the films appear on Dr. Barclay-White’s computer and she looks at them when you are waiting in the “Relaxation Room!” She then calls you into her office, you sit with her and she shows you your films. She reviews them with you and you know the results BEFORE YOU LEAVE! You don’t have to worry, wonder or wait weeks for that paper to come in the mail! It is the most wonderful place to go! Take it from a survivor…I know!!

So - please get your mammogram … and take charge of your breast health!
