Saying that I have been doing a lot in

well, recently i installed windoze for multi monitor
support and

.NET

is everywhere and the last i heard
it sucked monkey balls (no offense lol)

It was all over this delphi 2007 and is a huge
part of every new application.

When i left the scene it was supposed to be
the .shit so just wanted to hear if anyone
had developed with it and what it was like.

im sticking with LAMP for now though...
i like how i havent had to reboot the lamp
server in a few weeks.

Now you're talking. Remember how we had to reboot those servers in VA every night? I have servers up right now that haven't been rebooted in 3 years. My kinda boxes.

I've done a lot of

.NET

stuff in managed C++ and C#, it works for the most part, to me it's just another class library, an evolution of MFC. It's bloated, but there are ways to make it faster and I use it mostly for client apps on fast PCs anyway.

@perk: Where the hell you hiding dude? Applause

Sorry mate, had IM off for the last week. I'll have it up soon and come out from my rock. Interestingly, the thing that has kept me away is something that you and I had on the table about a year ago... but I have not forgotten the reason for a new discussion between us as well.

.NET

isnt as slow as it used to be, its has setup bloat, i.e. your looking at at least 30mb for any random application.  But the development time offset is usually worth it.

In fact the amount of time I've saved by using it is incredible, and the app involves a fair bit math which isn't even that slow! I'm quite suprised!

@monkey: Exactly my view. Look at NGEN, change your life dude, swear to God ;-)

use a language that has the syntax of C, but none of the advantages
but meanwhile has the same design as

perl

  etc
and none of the advantages
