http:// blog.programmableweb.com/2007/05/09/mpire-uses-apis-for-shopping-widgets/ Wave of the future, passing fad or, a little from column A, a little from column B? Cheers, td perkiset
Nutballs go look at those... specifically techcrunch... you know what I'm saying...
@TD: Gonna see a lot more of that I think /p nutballs
this is more up my alley. i have always thought the power of the web was in that you could pull information and services from many different places in 1 interface. the personalized homepage services get "partway" there. but the better use is having a site, that you control, focused on a specific topic/service/or thing, and then adding supplementary services with widgets. do I think its the future, probably. do i think its a specific thing you can cash in on? probably not. but if you develop a site, that could "output" information for others to use, while sharing the profit from it, go for it. example would be putting an amazon Omakase banner on your page (if they actually worked the way they should). products that are relevant to the content.

it is basically myspace spam endored by big companies
![]() they saw how popular widgets are on social networks ....thedarkness
I watch the programmableweb.com site like a hawk because i know one day there's going to be an API/mashup combination pop up there that is going to be a sure fire money winner hell, there's prolly quite a few there now. Well worth the time invested IMHO because mashups that make use of the various APIs abounding are at least one of the ways of the future
