Hi! Let's start the

Perl

board with a poll regarding your preferred development environment.

I know it's not necessary for simple scripts. But if the script includes 1000 and more lines it's really recommended to use such a tool.

Some years ago I have tested several tools and decided to use Komodo. Using it about 5 years now I can say it's good.
Anyway, it's not 100% stable because it crashes 1-2 times a day. This is a little bit disappointing because ActiveState
should have fixed it in the meantime. But I can live with it.

Man I'm looking forward to this... I know so terribly little about

PERL

  it's pathetic.

Bompa

Hi dirk, nice to meet you.

I've been using Open

Perl

Ide for 4 or 5 years.  Originally, I did look at others, but
they seemed "a bit too much" for me since I'm not really a uber-geek.

Open

Perl

Ide is not sophisticated, but it's handy.  I write small scripts anyways.

Actually, the nicest thing about it is that I can have a

perl

  scripts in any of 1,000s
of folders located on several different partitions and open and run that code with
just a few clicks.  (There's no way I'd navigate to those locations with just DOS).

Anyways, it's great to have a

perl

board, hope I can contribute something useful.

PS: perk, when you're feeling better can you add that little yellow popcorn-munching smiley dude?

Hi Bompa,

nice to meet you too!

I think I will have a look at Open

Perl

  Ide again.

I am a non geeky geek, cos I love the newbie editor known as Nano although I have sym linked it to pico for old times sake where I picked it up from using Pine for my email

perkiset

Yeah THAT post certainly shored up the "Non Geeky Geek" argument  :Applause
