In Leopard, sharing anything on your
machine is a snap. Go to System Preferences, select Sharing, File Sharing, and add the drive/resource/folder/whatever you want to share.But in Tiger, it's not quite so simple. The Samba setup that File Sharing uses won't allow you to select WHICH drives you want to share, so it can be a bit tricky. So here's the quick and easy way: Fire up a terminal, become the root user (sudo su, then your password). Edit /etc/smb.conf - this is where the shares are. External drives are found in the /Volumes directory. My recommendation would be to make the name of your drive standard stuff - no spaces or other special characters because it will make the share just that much more tricky. Add something like this to your smb.conf: [Net ![]() comment = Here you describe what this share is about path = /Volumes/myDriveName browseable = yes read only = no create mode = 0750 >Net  ![]() /p |
