this problem began on my IBM
Netvista when i statically set IP address on eth0 and subsequently could not connect. i changed back to "Automatically obtain IP address settings with dhcp", rebooted and still could not connect. i noticed the device was inactive and when i changed to active i got connection back (duh). but here's the point: even though i check marked "Activate device when computer starts" it is inactive upon rebooting and i have to activate each time now ever since i tried to statically set the IP address, no other changes. theory: this is either a Fedora8 bug or i am missing something here.thedarkness
Edit /etc/sysconfig
/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and make sure it has a line like;ONBOOT=yes Cheers, td fibonacci618
thanks for help. i checked, and that line "ONBOOT=yes" just matches whatever settings one has with that check mark box "Activate device when computer starts", so it did say "ONBOOT=yes" despite booting w/o it actually active and my having to reactivate it manually every time following reboot.
ok, but i did solve the problem. i put check mark in "Controlled by NetworkManager" and that did it. |
