Any one play with robotics at all?

not for along time. When I was at purdue I was on a team trying to build an autonomous airborn search and rescue vehicle. It was bad ass, but I was just a freshman so basically = bitch
still interested but no time or knowledge anymore.

I saw some really neat stuff when NASA Langley opened their doors
for open house on Oct 27th...  They had a two 'eyed' robot that had
depth perception, a three wheeled triangle bot, a jet powered UMV
with hi speed cameras and radio/wifi stuff for surveiallance, etc..

I always wanted to get a laptop and some x10 controllers and
a remote control car with some of the triangulation 'where am i'
stuff from robotstore.com and see what i could do with speech
recognition, maybe put some old coffee

and make a real life drink serving r2d2.... you know, one shot vodka,
couple draws of cranberry and some ice in one of those little poker
card cups and then return to home base and await more orders....

Bit geeky (read:childish) but I bought a lego mindstorms kits after seeing so many cool vids of stuff made on gootube lol. I have yet to make anything useful!

It comes with a drag/drop application for making the program which runs the robot but you can reflash it with different firmware which lets you code it in C

Bought my kids the same last year - not childish at all. The threads and groups surrounding that kit are pretty amazing.
