Congratulations all!

I am pleased to announce our 100th member, Charro

In any case, we've gone from 0 to 100 members in just a month and, speaking for the rest of the admins and mods, I don't think we could be more pleased. Thank you to everyone for the gift of your time and brains - it's just getting better here every day.

i dunno why, but for some reason that just seems un-attainable for me. OCR is like fishing voodoo or something. lol prolly cause I dont do compiled apps. though.... i wonder if there is an OCR com object i can use from my web apps... hmm.

Jeebers NBs - you used to ... what, calculate the trajectory of parts pieces and crumbs in a car accident... and then animate them in 3D ... and you find CAPTCHAS hard? Fish me where's the hope for the rest of us?!?!?!  Applause

nutballs

pfft that was easy. that was with algos the crazy ass physics nerds gave me. I just coded them as a plugin for the 3d package. and that was like 10 years ago. lol. (although obviously still hard as hell)

i havent done a compiled app since then...

Sidenote

IMO, CAPTCHAS are going away. The most clever solution today is the "Please enter the sum of one plus one" type gates... a list of 100 questions, just slightly modified in structure, grammar and words every time and robots will have an enormously difficult time. "Please tell me the name of an African animal, shaped like a horse that has black and white strips." "What is the name of a horse-like creature with long black and white stripes, typically found in Africa?"

Nutballs I can give you some pointers if you want
I made a pretty successful image recognition algorithm
But its nuts tho, fishin nuts!

And perk yeah i like them.
Except one day people will make a script that can parse natural languages, then where do we go?
Maybe: "What is this picture of" - then have a picture of a monkey or something

m0nkeymafia

The captchas that have just plain text would be UBER easy to crack
Just make a array that looks roughly like the numbers / letters for each one

That will serve as your convolution matrix, simple do the business over the image and record location
You may want to do some segregation of the numbers first, so you can remember where they went.

Oh and youll also have to roughyl resize the image to match that of your convolution matrix
And itd only work for simple ones, BUT, itd probably give u an extra few thousand sites to post on Applause

Zactly... it's not the tool, it's the way of thinking that will make more creative ways of dicking with us. The more they require either introspective or subjective thought and less factual or logical puzzles the further it will move into the That's Hard zone.

m0nkeymafia

There is pretty much always a way, just depends if you think outside the box.

I.e. with those question type answers, id be tempted to save every one in a database of my own
then answer them in my spare time
then my scripts would attempt to auto complete the forms using my answers

That way i can still automate 99% of it, and after a while it will

learn

how to answer them [it will be dumb of course]

perkiset

I hope everyone's like you then... cause I'll SO have your ass if I need to CAPTCHA you hehehe Applause

... no, I'm not telling you why/how right now so there.  Applause
