I'd recommend a 220, 440 or 880 over a 4500, since they have FC drives (faster) and are more power/heat efficient.  I really like the design of the 880, it's quite easy to work on unless you have to replace the FC backplane.

The V20z and related are also nice, they have a built in LOM-type thing (can't remember the "official" name, it's been a couple of years) for out-of-band remote management that runs a cut down embedded

Linux

  (ironically, on an IBM POWER chip) so it has full blown ssh.  The command set is a little wonky, but allows you to do more than the older LOMs.

And yeah, I'd love to have a 32 core Sun Fire. 

Solaris

  is my favorite flavor of *NIX.
