Hey guys, I wondered how you guys discover, or research into your next site.
Im talking WH here, a site that youd build up and put a bit of effort into [both content and

seo

  etc]

So how do you go about it?
I usually look to things I like, unfortunately this leads to seriously poor returns, so am looking for other ways to inspire me.  The only thing I can come up with at the moment is in an extremely competitive market so am trying to avoid that at the minute lol

So, what do you guys go for?
Anything that you think of, and hope it makes money, if not move onto the next idea you have regardless of whether you like the subject or not?

Or do you have a method of finding new niches, and then researching them?

Do you concentrate all your efforts into niches around a certain genre?
I.e. cinema site, movie site, actor sites etc etc [can help cross promote each site making each new one easier to establish]

My niches, clients and projects drop my head when I'm not looking. We don't even have a website for our company because we can't take on any more work. I'm still investigating Dr. Emmit Brown's methods for trying to get more time

Getting adult traffic is pretty easy, it is the converting it part that is tricky.
I am working on solutions for that. But still considering i am a newbie I am not doing to shabby .

For Adsense it is very simple.
You want words that pay you lot of money.
Basically find out watch the average joe watches on TV etc.
Everytime you see word that might be expensive make note of it.

Then get out adwords traffic estimator.
see what words for bids are $1.50+ if less then that fuk it.
That way u get clicks that pay like 0.20+

find all words related to ur expensive words, then create a site.
I have never make wh site, but i think same idea apply.

I actually was looking into adult last night, been reading up on how it all works, reckon it could be a half decent depature from all this clean web stuff im workin with lol [ive never done bh].  I reckon I could automate shed loads of it to get an edge over a few people.

Yeah your right about average joe, except those kinda topics get saturated very quickly, so its going to be really hard to drive traffic to it :/

it is a valid assumption that what you do will fail, at least to achieve the grandiose goal you may imagine, the trick is how to prevent that from causing you to not try.

tricks:
figure out the minimum return that would be worth it to you. For example, you decide you want to build some big ass dropshipping site, with your own credit carding, customer service, etc. assuming, you want to design it well, implement it well, but starting with an off the shelf package. lets say 150 hours, to do it right. figure out a reasonable average sale amount, and the profit of that amount. how many would you have to do in 1 year to recover your time spent. Just break it down to the raw numbers. be pessimistic.

I figure my time at an even 100/hour currently. If i have nothing else to do, i still figure it at 100. so 15k is what I spent to launch my newest site. i dont count server costs since i already have those covered elsewhere.
average order on the site would probably be 1-2 items, 1 big, 1 small accessory. assume $100 per order, $50 is profit. I have to make 300 sales to recover my expense. thats 1 a day with 2 months of ramp up. So... i did it. even if i come up short, i always have next year... and the year after... etc.

when it comes to BH the thinking is exactly the same. just shorter timeframes you would think right? WRONG. I still have sites running my original toolset from 3 years ago. do they make good money? no. they suck, but at this point they are free. I spent close to 500 hours doing that toolset.

So when you think your idea will probably fail. 2 things to think of. WTF else are you doing with your time, and break it down to numbers.

Picking a niche is the hardest part. The reason its hard is because of analysis through paralysis. so don't over analyze.
Here are the foolproof steps to picking a niche.

1. wait until one of your next favorite TV show comes on.
2. go to TV
3. turn on TV
4. turn to the channel that has the program on it.
5. watch the show until the first commercial segment.
6. the first commercial that comes on, do that product.

the point is, you can do it any way you want. don't get hung up on pie-in-the-sky-fantasies of hitting it big in a big niche. My first BH site ever targeted PAPER. yes you heard right, paper. you know how i chose it? i was holding a pad of yellow legal paper, getting ready to write a list of possible subjects to target... you know what number 2 was... PENS.

The reason for TV is most likely the ad that comes on first will be targeted to your mindset, so you at least might know something about it. chances are also that whatever is advertised will not be a super hard target or will be fairly broad in scope.

I have loads of ideas, I can make the site, I can get good content [clean or otherwise ]
I think my main problem is driving traffic, I want to stay in the lighter shades of grey [ill work my way down at some point] but even though I could reel off 20 ways to get traffic I have never had much success with them.

Its like a company, id be employed as an engineer and someone else would be the sales man.

P.s. nop after your post I read up on adult stuff, I actually reckon id be good at it, reckon I could quite easily automate a whole load of the TGP process [creating and submitting] to the point where i could do 10x the amount of work of most people.  Then hopefully setup my own tgp site listing galleries etc.  But its completely new to me and im scared LOL

I have a couple of ideas for non spammy sites, in big areas but I reckon I could probably get enough traffic [if i could figure out how] to make a few quid a day [my target is $10 a day over all my sites but im making about $4 atm :/]

People always ask me what they should do in certain situations.
Well the answer is very simple.
Try and imagion what nop would do in a similar situation.
When you have determined what I would do, turn arround and do the exact opposite .

Website is up and running
Got about half of it done and populating with content
Spread a few links about a few bookmarking places, hubpages etc as well as on a few forums
All WH of course.

No traffic as yet as the domain has been registered about 24 hours lol

Anyone have any decent tips of how to get a few more links?
i.e. more social bookmarking places [only done delicous] etc

aye cheers im doing a cross between getting links on established sites, got about 10 off established sites in the niche
then building up content
then goin for forums yay

but in the process i have thought of possibly the best idea ever to get links, i need to work on it, but itll be a way of inducing natural links, but through dodgey methods

so basically youll end up with loads of natural traffic and links and your site will be totally clean. except you duped a few systems. honestly itll rock, be loads of work though.  need to start workin on it
