So my wife's mac blew up on friday @10am. She had a big project due monday.
I figured it was the PSU, since that is what ALWAYS blows up.
So what do you do?

call apple and set a repair appointment for saturday 10am.
call perk to see what his opinion is.
find out that perk says you will probably leave your computer there for most of a day.
call apple and ask if it turns out to be the PSU, can they fix it right there.
answer: if we have the part in stock.
the ask, do you have it in stock?
answer: no way to know. (lol)
then you do some basic math.
10am + 6hours = 4pm (if lucky) + drive home and resetup = 6pm = very upset wife.
so this all results in...
drive to chandler, walk into store, grab first mactard, say "i want a mac pro, the base model"
They try to sell you a bunch of shit you dont need if you are smarter than them, and probably dont need if you are buying a mac pro.
you pay them $3k
you leave.
you setup at home and install all the software needed for the project.
wife is working by 6pm on friday, the same day.
go out to store.
buy beer to wash away the 3k pain.
go to sleep.
wake up next morning, say fuck it to the mac repair.
hop online.
order a replacement PSU for 200 bucks.
wait a few days.
get PSU.
install PSU.
Now we have 2 macs...

of course the previous one is about 5 years old now, so not exactly a possible upgrade for me, but still, now i have a tinker box.

SO, there is an actual question in here.
are there any dual monitor, mac-pc, KVMs?

Use remote desktop only when you must talk to that box or VNC, that'll save the need for a KVM and work pretty damn well.
I have trouble with my digital KVM, the mac and linux boxes and screen resolution - it gets a bit funky. I do better with a VNC rig when I must talk to it.
Also, look into getting another monitor(s) for it then use something like Synergy (http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/) to port keyboard and mouse across IP instead of physically - you'll drag your mouse to the edge of your Windows monitor and then it will show up on the Mac or other *nix boxes. I used that for quite a while and it was pretty cool.

it is a dually, right? Put 2 cheap monitors on the wall and let it show desktops of family photos until you need to use it.

Use it to process for you just as you would any other linux box. Raw processing will still rock for you.

Create an OpenCalDAV server and have sync'd calendars and addresses

Ah true, duh. I'll just terminal to it, that way I can just put it in the corner of the room.

I really have no idea what I am going to actually use it for, though now I have a dev box for iphone stuff i suppose
