for me, the epiphany of regex was when scraping data from live sites. i love it, not only for the power, but for the challenge of being able to pull patterns out of even the noisiest of data.

I know how you feel nuts, couldn't agree more. Finding patterns where there appear to be none.... luv it.

I was always hesitant to work with regexs because they looked ugly until I got into Apache configuration... then I got hooked. And when you add backreferences and the preg_replace_all sort of functions in PHP they're just monsterously cool

Yeah, they take a lot of stuff to the next level and, in my opinion, seperate the men from the boys There are things you can do with a good regex that would just involve a ridiculous amount of code otherwise. Cheers, td

This is almost as much as the ink would be to print it: http://www.visibone.com/products/everythingbook.htmlThat would be very useful... portable too...

>very useful
If I were developing sites for clients I'd have 2 or 3 copies scattered around the reception area and conference rooms. Scare the hell out of them.
