A gas cloud of unknown origin which measures about 37 billion miles long is being pulled
into the Milky Ways blackhole which happens to be about 27,000 light years away from us.

Isn't it odd that this gas cloud event actually happened 27,000 years ago?
Yet our scientists are just now observing it.

This led me to ponder that if we could get far enough away from earth we could then
observe the events that have happened in the past.  The further away, the further
into history we could see.  Fuk, talk about forensic investigations!  lol

This light-time thing also means that if their are aliens 2,000 light years away from
us and they are observing us, they will think we are still in the stone age.

lol

It is totally bizarre - the notion of seeing the past because that's how long it took the light to get here. And you're eight about aliens viewpoint - imagine how tiny our side of space is, and then how tiny the slice of time is that they could see us ... In other words, you'd have to be exactly (so far) away to be able to "see" is.
