mmm.... im tying myself in knots.Think i might have to eject on this one. Dont know enough yet to sort it out ! It does seem to be some kind of weird path offset. If i move processxml to root ..it goes one step further but gives a whole list of other errors looking for stuff.

Has anyone else had a prob? its the standard download install.

cheers for your help anyway.

you're getting close... if it went further with processxml in the root then it is all a pathing problem.

Probably, in the processxml.php file it is looking for other files that are in the same place as it, or at least is expecting them to be somewhere .. well, expected.

Here's another thing to try - put the processxml.php file back where you got it. Then change the .htaccess file - eliminate the forward slash in front of the processxml.php directive, so it looks like this:

rewriteengine on
Rewriterule feeds/(.+)\.xml$ processxml.php?id=$1
Rewriterule feeds/(.+)\.html$ processhtml.php?id=$1

I'm not sure, but I think that will do it, or at least get you further along.

This thread has been here for a year?  omg!

Anyways, when  I click NEXT to go to the second page of this thread, I wind up at Re: Perk's Spider Source

Yah, never use a / there.

The basic idea is that you generate XML feeds with auto generated content

My blogs already do that by themselves.

and have each story within the feed link to a site you wish to generate links for.

Yes, when I post to my blogs, my posts already contain links to wherever I want.

Once the feed has been created and you ping blog search
engines like technorati then the idea is that scraper sites will pick up your feed

Would someone please tell me how this is any different than just pinging the feeds of the blogs that I already own?

Maybe this was intended for non-blog sites?

feed is not a protocol, it needs to be http:// etc.

yes, download WordPress and get started there... since you're a n00b programmer this makes a lot of sense.

On the Mac in Safari, that's what the browser URL bar changes to Bomps. That's an OK url according to Safari, but clearly, the server is just not connected up right.

ROFLMAO no worries my friend, that's cool.

Yes Dee, you might want to take a look at the BHBC package if you're going that direction. Bomps is the man.
