I was thinking about writing an RSS feed aggregator... my thoughts are:

 cron job every 4 hours to:
 file_get_contents($therssurl);
 parse the xml, and have my way with the data...

 is it that easy?

Despite the cheesy hard-sell website, check out Carp Evolution and Grouper. I used them 7 or 8 years ago and they worked as billed. Plenty of plugins and switches.
