in the Phillippines.  As I told Perk, I think my LACK of tech understanding has been my downfall-- my company closes doors in 4 days after 3 years in biz in the Phils.  I did just fine working for other people's company's in the US, but trying to run my own...those damn programmers just needed too much hand holding from he who can't grasp (hold onto) anything above intermediate technical stuff.  WHEW.  OK, time to look around.

PH is not USA. Even though PH was a US colony for over 80 years,
On the outside they might appear to be "little brown americans" a phrase coined by a former US president.
But you can not erase 400 years of spanish rule.
I have had 2 buisness in Ph, 1st one go under. 2nd going good.

Things in Ph are not the same as state side .
Respect is everything,
You can not treat employess like equals as in USA, no first name crap.
They refer to you as Sir. Even when talking among themselves, I hear "The sir will not like this"
If they do not respect/fear you, you will have problems.

Lots of opportunity in Ph, very hard workers, but you can not use the same motivation techniques used stateside /
