any flavor that comes with yum is handy as it saves time. i used to compile everything from scratch, but yum really isn't all that bad.
i also agree on fbsd, i use it for mission critical servers i.e. that handle licensing

Isn't there still the windows single user mode or safe mode or something? And was the OS encrypted? If it was you may be in trouble. If not, mount the drive in another machine to get it's stuff.

Hey we have no way of getting the password to an old users computer at our company.  Is there work around to that for windows 8?
