Ideas on how to make a shopping cart that allows a user to choose the amount they want to donate.. premade solutions that would interface with Authorize.net would be excellent.  I looked at building something from the templates they offer, and another service that offers digital download assistance.. with an open ended donate option.. but they charged per month, and i didn't really need digital download. but the ones that you dont need trans ID for are static, ie 1 ,5 ,$10,..

 I am doing this for my church, and wonder why they have a merchant account- when my sorry ass uses google checkout and paypal..

@ Donation: I have 2 retail + donation sites and had to hand-roll my own cart for them because we do something really really different... we chop the transaction into 2 pieces, charge the client 85% from our for-profit corp and 15% by our 501c3 so that the donation is in the name of the purchaser. As far as I know, both the store and the cart is unique in the world.

If you simply want a "How much do you want to donate" mechanism, then perhaps a cart is way overkill. If you have a connection to your merchant processor (it's probably XML or something) then it's really just a form, then you create the XML record and ship it out... not terribly tough and you don't need all the software for a cart.

All that said, given your last post this might well be WAY beyond what you are capable of doing... sorry

i think paypal actually has buttons you can make that will allow someone to jut click it and poof they pay you X dollars.
not sure though.
