Here’s a riddle: How do you make your book a best seller on the Kindle?
Answer: Give copies away.

 D'oh!  Duh  ROFLMAO

Yet the rickety old fashioned folks ain't convinced:

Quote
“At a time when we are resisting the $9.99 price of e-books,” said David Young, chief executive of Hachette (Huh?) Book Group, the publisher of James Patterson and Stephenie Meyer, “it is illogical to give books away for free.”

Similarly, a spokesman for Penguin Group USA said: “Penguin has not and does not give away books for free. We feel that the value of the book is too important to do that.”

Personally I feel that the "value" of a book is in a dimension forever more important than currency.

Also interesting...

Then you shouldn't have a problem forking over $9.99 for it. It's a bargain!

Just yesterday I dropped $26.99 on a Python book and another $38.99 on a Python DVD/book combo at Frys.  I'm finding a new albeit heterosexual love for "the Python."  (Yes yes it's about Monty Python and not a big snake)  However, I'm now throwing these items at your head for suggesting I shouldn't complain about a $9.99 price tag!! Wink

Good to hear from you cdc Smiley  Sling that snake-oil my friend, sling the snake-oil.  Those who purchase it deserve their purely psychosomatic benefits  ROFLMAO

True. This way when MINREC alters the google cache and removes the worst data about
the 2004 oil spill off the coast of galicia... the book copy will still exist.

Crosses jumpsuit covered arms and shouts 'B' 'B' 'B' at the comforting INGSOC logo.

Guess the thought police are gonna come after me for this one. Wink

The first ones always free with anything worth buying.  THe money is on the comeback.
Look at what the writers strike on network television did to the tubes and the way
people want to get entertained.   Thousands of standup comedians came out of the
cracks to entertain people.  Personally im sick of the corporate job hording style
crack dealing that the entertainment industry has us in.  Any idiot with a laser printer
and ms office can publish a book.  The good ones will rise to the top.

(woah, new coffee is super strong... trader joes sumatra lol)
