I'll take "Dec 5th"

"unmanned U.S. military surveillance planes called MQ-9 Reapers stationed on the island nation of Seychelles are being deployed to patrol the Indian Ocean in search of pirates"

"The 36-foot-long Reapers are the size of a jet fighter, can fly about 16 hours and are capable of carrying a dozen guided bombs and missiles. They are outfitted with infrared, laser and radar targeting."

Won't be long.

We love us some war-by-Nintendo. Both cool and frightening all at the same time.

I'll bet the official date will be July 4'th but feedback from the Somali pirate "beta testers" is already shaping the final release.

I second perks comment about being frightening at the same time.  Having something tangible to lose such as American lives causes us to consider military options more carefully.  I think our leaders should all send their sons and daughters in first before getting us into some preemptive debacle like Iraq

Additionally, things like these always remind me of Robo Cop when the "bad" robot "malfunctioned" and killed the salesman.  Cool yet scary.

Speaking of pirates, the US just launched two new war ships capable of
high speeds and shallow water travel.

"They use steerable waterjets instead of propellers and rudders and have
shallower drafts than conventional warships, letting them zoom close to shore"

http://www.usnews.com/science/articles/2009/10/22/navys-new-high-tech-warships-reach-freeway-speeds.html?s_cid=rss:navys-new-high-tech-warships-reach-freeway-speeds

These ships are designed modularly and can be switched over from like sub chaser
to mine sweeper in 24 hours from what I understand.

and only $460 million each.  Shocked

@bomps pretty impressive

For a frigate I am not really sure if 460M is that expensive.
An M1 Abrams tank costs like $5M and it only holds 4 guys Smiley

Is it just me, or did they steal a lot of the design from Lucas' Imperial I-class Destroyer?

Yah, but the prirates won't be following, they'll be paddling like a mofo throwing shit overboard.

I can imagine the look of horror on their faces when that bad boy comes over the horizon.

 ROFLMAO

PS: btw, how far away is the horizon?  From a point 6ft up, it's only 2.8miles.
