but i don't think either party supports illegal immigration.
Lots of unspoken agendas in both parties so it's tough to get a true assessment of actual opinions. I'm a dem mainly because I think it's the party that has the best chance to get things I support done. I actually think the rep vs dem football game is a sideshow provided for us to feel engaged without looking at all issues from the perspective of truth first, not party.
But I digress. Dems and reps all claim to be anti-illegal immigration but I believe dems have an agenda to work on the "illegal" part of the problem where reps want the "illegal" part to remain so their big money interests can continue to have cheap labor from undocumented immigrants. As soon as you begin to acknowledge a person as "legal," they are afforded more rights, services and protection that gives them a bigger share of the American pie. Kind of like an "enemy combatant" can be waterboarded but an American or even a prisoner cannot.
But in truth I think both sides understand the importance and benefit of immigrants and know that having them here is a good thing. The problem with the Nazis, ahem... I mean Republicans, is that their massive red-state following with chillingly low levels of education too often take them literally. So instead of simply keeping the "illegal" status and have controllable, low wage, expendable subservients (glorified slavery), they think if we just rounded them all up and dumped them over the border America would be healed.
I'd love to see these wingnuts doing the jobs currently handled by immigrants - in another country - with the stigma and fear of being "illegal."
