Have you guys ever tried to play anything with iPhone? I have tried and tried to play different games and understand why somebody would want to play with it but I just can't. Controls are just so fucking horrible every time because it's just touchscreen. I just tried Call of Duty Zombies and I lasted 10 minutes. Then I just had to stop because controls were so bad. I have found only one complex game even remotely enjoyable and that was SimCity. That's probably because I love the game series. iPhone version wasn't perfect but it was SimCity and controls were semi-good. Also ALL driving games have been bad because of the controls. Only enjoyable games are those one feature little games like the one where you have to balance the ball through the maze, that one I liked. And that air control game was fun but come on, those aren't games that make me take iPhone and play. Those are games that you play when you are in metro or wait few minutes for something.
So is anybody here using iPhone as gaming device or is it just Apple hype? I just can't take this device seriously as gaming device.

Depends on your notion of gaming device.
I fly with FAST, love Monster Pinball and drive CrashKart or CroMag rally. But other than that, games are more pedestrian and brainy than action. ParaPanic. Missile Command. Labyrinth. Enigmo. Chess, Boom! 3-Tuple, Naboko, Scrabble, solitaire and the like. I'm not much of a gamer on your level at all, but *I* find it quite good. And I find that non-gaming people (clients, particularly, really enjoy it - WAY WAY more than their crackberries - of which I've now been asked to replace about 20.

I frequently use my iPhone for games, but I don't know that it's really a platform for the hard-core gamer. I tend to fill in dead time with game playing, like when I'm riding the subway or waiting in a line, or similar. So a lot of the games I have are games you can jump into and out of quickly. A zillion forms of Solitaire, Bejeweled Blitz, a Skee Ball game (that is surprisingly fun), Wheel of Fortune, Tap Tap Revenge, Flight Control, Wurdle... not exactly hardcore gamer stuff, but I tend to like the ones that work my brain a little.
Most of the time, I play for no more than 10 or 15 minutes at a pop. But some of the games are quite addictive and there are a few times I've unexpectedly found myself playing late into the night, trying to beat a high score or some such.
Perk, I'll probably try a few from your list. I think we have similar tastes.

Actually DV8R I have one called "CannonGame" - I love it because it's right out of my huge jealousy of your coding prowess in the late 70s ... I think you should go look at it straight away for a nifty little memory trip

cannon game was fun to play on the can.
I got tired of it though.
What we really need is some hardware that can render legitimate graphics, but I'd like to see clients for all the major shooters and MMORPGs and such. Actually, I'm banking on the fact that we will be seeing those things soon in a couple of my recent ventures/ideas.

Hmm, searched for "CannonGame" and couldn't find it. Is that the exact name? There were a variety of games with Cannon in the title, but don't know which one is the right one.
Finding things in the App Store these days is getting tough, the downside of 100,000 apps...

Cannon Game is made by the Discovery Channel or something like that. That's all I remember, it's not on my phone anymore.
