Wow man. That'd be hot shit if people even knew what Kent State meant anymore.

If all that energy that's been used to dig up the past was put into something that actually matters today we might actually progress somewhere.

Exactly people can not even remember the lies told to them 1 year ago, never mind 40+ years ago.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. As for "wasted" energy, I personally don't believe it's wasted energy to dig up dinosaur bones to re-piece together our planet's history. If something so historically relevant that happened in 1970 causes you discomfort, I believe it's the nature of the event not the distance from the present time

>what Kent State meant
Look at the street riots happening now in Greece. The only thing that kept most of college campuses across the country from erupting into full-blown riots after Kent State was we didn't have the internet but were dependent upon the broadcast networks --which were MUCH less likely to question government and authority back then. We were fed a fairly constant diet of "propaganda lite."
>past
If you kept a log of all the "yeah-we-lied-but-that-was-back-then" revelations you'd soon realize that when it comes to any given current event it is almost statistically impossible that they are telling the truth.

nice one rc. This is my favorite frustrating phrase that supports this targeted amnesia: "can we just move on already?" Let liegones be liegones and let it go. Now then, wanna buy a watch?

One more line in the "yeah-we-lied-but-that-was-back-then" database. Handy for battling naiveté at cocktail parties.

Another much needed parcel of proof that helps challenge the massively overpowered machine which manufactures public consent. Or rather, what he said

Tasty morsels rc, thanks. I love the thought progression of the first one: - HELL no!
- Wow, all my beliefs seem to have moments of inspiration that did come from people who were.... NO!!!! Selling it to me.
- Damn I'm unoriginal, and biting the hand that feeds me...
- But wait, what about those beliefs having their deepest roots formed in shocking experiential moments in my past?
- But double damn, perhaps those weren't crystallized in my mind as a belief until someone "sold" them to me??
- Hold it! Belief is the death of intelligence!
- Crap I just killed my brain by believing that last statement
Hey who spiked the cooler??
