Lovely.. I just had to force quit Firefox again after it decided to freeze when I was scrolling Cheesy Yeah.. scrolling. This must be some sort of new record. I have never seen browser freeze before while I'm scrolling fully loaded text page. This was CodeIgniter's User Guide so there isn't any flash or anything like that.

Me loves Firefox.

K - do you have the activity monitor running when you do this? I keep a horizontal bar of my processor activity as well as a pie chart of my RAM in the dock so that I can see if there's anything special going on when that sort of sh!t happens. Sometimes I'll notice that an app will spike a processor when that happens and it's pretty clear something set up a dead-short. I also notice that Flash applets have a tendency to bulk up my memory or processor more than anything else while browsing ... I think that ActionScript for flash has some holes that could be giving you trouble.

Yeah, I might check that one out. "Luckily" I don't have to wait for a long time for Firefox to crash & burn again.

i used to do this then i stopped. anytime i see a spike i check what it is, usually it's gone. if it's something out of control it usually affects performance and becomes noticable. now when i notice something is up i hit ctrl alt del which i bound to my kde system monitor thing or top if i'm at the command line.

This is a link guerilla posted at another forum for speeding up your firefoxs

http://webupd8.blogspot.com/2009/07/increase-firefox-3-perormance-by.html

It just optimizes the sqlite databases that ffox uses for storing many things. I have used it and I am noticing now that FF only uses 1/2 to 1/3 the mem it once did.

Saga continues. Now my Firefox has stopped working with Flash plugin. It just doesn't accept that there is one installed. I have installed and reinstalled it over and over, repaired disc permissions so there isn't any problems there and so on. But nope, my Firefox doesn't support Flash anymore and this just happened without any reason I can think of. However Safari 4 has been working perfectly with Flash all this time. So Firefox has finally literaly forced me to change to Safari 4. Not to mention that Mozilla team is so fucking lazy that they don't bother to offer 64 bit GCD compiled version of Firefox for Snow Leopard. That's just beyond stupidity. Apple has offered them a way to speed up their product just by adding one library file (GDC) and compiling again but no. And it ain't that hard because there are already private builds from the source code with those features.

If anybody from Mozilla team happens to read these posts by some freak accident, all I can say is that you guys fucking suck at making browsers. Firefox used to be the number one choice for me but over the last few years it has turned it to necessary evil that I have to deal with because of the 3rd party plugins. Good job fucking it up Firefox team Applause
