I'd not heard that one ... I'm going to have to read more.

But at first glance, I don't know that I'm opposed to it in principle. The problem is that ANY action against abortion is seen as another toehold in the fight against women's reproductive freedom. But in this case, their saying it's illegal to have an abortion for the sole purpose of eliminating a child because it's a girl rather than a boy... or because it's black rather than white like my lily-white-she'd-never-be-seen-with-one-of-THEM-daughter ...

The amount of that stuff that goes on in China (because of the single offspring law) is amazing and horrible. And the details of how it's handled are pretty bad - the moment a daughter crowns during birth she gets an injection of formaldehyde in the brain. The mom finishes delivery, the child is dead. No worries, mom and dad can go off and try to have a boy.

I dunno. Abortion vexes me perhaps more than any other political issue.

...the law contains no explicit provision requiring doctors
to ask their patients their reasons for seeking an abortion, nor
for patients to disclose such reasons...

Don't ask, don't tell is back. lol
