Never in my life have I experienced such a blatantly unreadable, totally disgusting EULA as I have at this moment.  Of course I haven't read the entire agreement.  But here's a few critical points that caused me to post it here.  First of all I make it a point these days to read any agreement before signing.  If it's too long to read I don't purchase the product, period.  So when I was alerted to the fact that a new version of Adobe Reader was available (Windows 7), I clicked on install.  When the agreement link appeared with that familiar ominous button claiming "I have read and fully understand the blah blah blah or you can kill all my children" I clicked on the EULA link and found a few interesting things.

1. Clicking on it didn't take you to the EULA, just a confusing page of potential matching EULAs, of which I searched through and grabbed the one I needed (Adobe Reader, FFS).  Then to my astonishment, the text was in Arabic.  Then seeking through the doc I found Kanji.  Realizing English must exist in here somewhere I began my deep search for the truth.  The EULA in question is 280 pages, most of which contains multi-byte text, if you get my meaning.

So just when I was about to give up I caught some English on page 66.  Yep, that's where it starts - page 66.  I can see Adobe from my 11'th floor window in my office at work in San Jose.  They're definitely close enough to consider English as at least one of their top-10 languages.

Growl I said!  Lawyers to the lions!!!

GameStation has today revealed that it legally owns the souls of thousands of customers, thanks to a clause it secretly added to the online terms and conditions for the official GameStation website.  The "Immortal Soul Clause" was added as part of an attempt to highlight how few customers read the terms and conditions of an online sale. GameStation claims that 88 percent of customers did not read the clause, which gives legal ownership of the customer's soul over to the UK-based games retailer.  The remaining 12 percent of customers however did notice the clause and clicked the relevant opt-out box, netting themselves a £5 GBP gift voucher in the process.
