Ok, for years now perkiset has been riding me about the good ol
boy redneck back woods bible belt surroundings i am in... didnt really
know what he meant until i turned on non-dtv air broadcast television
at 5am on a saturday morning and heard this drunk fucker: ahahaha

also in the video you can see that the webcam is faster
than the vertical blank of the tv  and you can actually
see it refresh in a few of the fraames... remember, the vertical
blank where you could snag the processor, JMP to a blank
page in (was that really considered memory? LOL) and run your own
code (i.e. see if a missile hit a player or something)
then JMP back  the computer got back and refreshed the screen...

i still start doing 6502 assembly code in my head when i drive and see
instruction codes in the license plates..  hahaha

But of course!  On the 6502 you had GR (39X39 little brickout style graphics), HGR (with a text window at the bottom) and HGR2 (full resolution).  By placing 2 lines together of certain complementary colors you could "create" a new one.  I loved to do this since those who didn't know the trick thought I somehow surpassed the 256 color limitation.  Talk about trial and error

Man, all this talk has got me hot for an Apple ][ emulator ... (have one, no fear) - I loved the simplicity of 6502. What, like 119 instructions or some such? Talk about simple... and REALLY helped focus how one thinks.

i hoarded all my old apples ataris and pong games then i sold them all on ebay
and got emulators...the atari st i paid 1200$ for went for 20$ plus shipping.

lol.

if you look hard enough you can find tapper, swashbuckler and oregon trail
disk images for the apple emulator...   and if you really are into the blocky
grab the strip poker....   

every now and then i boot up hitchikers guide to the galaxy or solve
zork again to relieve stress... karateka is a good one too lol

OMFG I totally forgot about karateka!  I LOVED that game!  One of my faves was Ultima II, which I happily dropped Zork to play.  Ultima II cost $72 brand new when it first came out.  I had a 10MB hard drive at the time and dual floppies (5 1/4 inch.  You know, the media that actually was "floppy"), which were invaluable for cracking games.  First Apple was a standard II and then perkiset convinced mom to get a II+.  We never went to the IIe or Lisa.  Damn the days playing Dark Castle on the Fat Mac and the Mac Platinum ruled.  [hehehehe..... merh.... merh..... ugh.uhg...uhg..... heheheheh.... ugh... merh... - sampled sound while throwing rocks at the nasties.]

With help from my family, I bought a Mac IIcx with the very first 13" color monitor for $4,660 (never forget that unforgivable price gouge).  The little vertical line towards the right side of the screen was totally annoying.  The Triniton technology actually used this line to hold the crt display in place.  Wow, I feel old.  Wait, I'll be 40 in a month.  I am old

On a completely different note, Idiocracy is perhaps my all-time favorite comedy, as well as my girlfriend's.  We've watched the movie more times than we can count and I think the truly brilliant humor was largely missed.  I showed her your profile pic a long time ago and she loved it. 

We've had tons of fun googling "Beef Supreme" and reading actual recipes on blogs.

ITTO you weren't hanging here when Jairez and I had a discussion about Dark Castle... I have a complete FatMac emulator and Dark castle installed on it if you ever are in the mood (it's TOTALLY friggin' great) ... the only problem is that it only runs on a Mac. As good today as ever though.

Well, i just watched my portable tv analog signal for  the last time.. the DTV switch happened
at midnight so now that is really an ancient memory... tuning in an over the air broadcast

the day the tv died.
