Hey everyone,

Can anyone explain to me how I could remove ads from website feeds that I want to use for my Wordpress blogs, using Wp-O-Matic?  Not every ad is the same so it seems tough.

Thanks,

$squickyclean = str_replace("{AD}","",$feedo");

This would go nicely as a wordpress plugin...

I know nothing about WP-o-Matic, so I don't know if kurdt's post actually represents f'reals macros in the inbound feed or that's pseudocode.

But essentially, he's saying just replace the ad portion of the feed with nothing.

You wouldn't probably put it into the WP blog itself, but into the input/acquisition portion of wp-o-matic I assume. You'd need to do just a little walkthrough of the code to find where content is actually grabbed, then you'd put the replacement component right there.

Shouldn't be that tough, since ads can only be a couple different formats in a feed ... but I'd probably make my routine smart enough to recognize different types of ads and clean them gently.
