perkiset, I have read a lot of your threads over at syndk8 but obviously
When PinkHat got breast cancer
was news to me. I'm not good at english, but some sort of "regard" is what I'm looking for to express. I am myself married and father of two (soon to be three) kids and just the thought of such a thing happening to one of your beloved is, well, don't even wanna think that far...Puts things into perspective. She's fully recovered though?
Yes Stefan, and thank you. Pinkhat had a mastectomy of her right breast and reconstruction starting in 2001. The prognosis was that, since we caught it early, if we went for the amputation then she would be all set. It was hellish for her and has taken this many years for her to be reasonably comfortable. Six months after the operations she was still barely able to bench press an 8oz bag of rice, the operation had been so devastating. And given some other complications, there were 5 more rather gruelling operations over the following 3 years as well. She still has a lot of discomfort when the weather changes dramatically, but she is tough, alive and happy - so because of how it changed our lives, we consider it perhaps the cruelest blessing that we have ever received. She is only now able to carry her briefcase again (for short distances anyway) and in the last years has been able to spend some time sleeping on her stomach, although not for long.
I appreciate your concern and thoughts, and wish you and your family health and happiness.
