Hey all ~

Anyone have any synonym replacement ideas for vb.net before I go off and create the whole thing from scratch??  I really don't have the time to do that, but know I will spend countless hours perfecting it if I don't have a starting point.

Thanks again!

Big job to do properly I'd have thought!

Plenty of databases out there to help, the problem comes in using them effectively. Only really started coding this last 12months or so, and only in PHP, so I'm afraid I can't offer anything more constructive sorry. Would be interested to hear how you get on if you end up developing it yourself though.

What are we talking about here? I'm completely lost (sorry)?

Start at the beginning will you, this looks like it extends another thread but I have no idea which one?

Either put a reference to the OT or state what you are trying to achieve in full.

Cheers,

Actually - that was pretty much everything I put in the other thread Smiley  Sorry, I'll try to explain a bit more....

I have content in my database... I'd like to 'spin' that content out by replacing words with similar words inside the content.  Sort of like Madlibs, in a way.  Example (lyrics by Journey):

When the lights go down in the City
And the sun shines on the bay
I want to be there in my City

When the candles go down in the village
and the orb lights on the bay
I want to be there in my village

You know... something like that.  I would build the synonym database myself since it would be niche content.  Each word would have 10's of replacements and the spun content would be randomly chosen from synonyms, so effectively the content would be different each time.

I have other plans as well, such as <strong>, <hx>, <p></p> tags to make the content structurally different as well.

Any thoughts.... Any starting code for at least the synonym replacement piece?

Wordnet.  Use google code search to see if what you want is already out there.

ie.    asp wordnet

I decided not to use Wordnet, mainly because I want it all to be ultra-readable.

Instead, I built a master synonym replacement table for my content (since it is themed, it was relatively easy).  Then, I use randomness to pick out different synonyms for every site, templates to deliver the content into, and auto-blogging on a random-timed basis to release the content.

Thanks for the help everyone.
