Hey all -

I have several clients that I EBlast for. Some as few as a few thousand, some as many as a couple dozen thousand a week. All of these are opt-in (for reals man FOR REALS!) and the servers I use are pristine - no blacklisting or bad marks anywhere (heh... no, you can't find them and ride my carpet). Anyhoo - new recipients using Outlook or Express have trouble with the mail going straight to junk until we are "OKd" - there are a couple prefs, move mail to junk if you don't know the address and purge immediately if junk and such... I do not know if these are on by default, but no matter.

It strikes me that if Amazon sends a mail, all lush with HTML and such, it does not get the same treatment - this leads me to thinking there is some "Blessing Entity" out there or something... does anyone know if I am in the right direction, or are we just going to be perpetually buns up kneeling?

there are dozens of things possibly at play.

but the "junk email" folder of outlook is ON by default, set to LOW. it only uses the white/black list that is internal to outlook, and if both are empty, then they play no part (which is by default). The main thing they do is text lookups and word count probabilities, but they do also fingerprinting of messages. Knowing what some of your client businesses are, your possibly sending Banned Words and that MIGHT be the problem.

I have had email from amazon dumped into the outlook spam folder btw.

You'd of course be right on some of our accounts - in my test cases today it would be "ears" and "audiology" that would have to be the banned words...  but given that the test machines were front-desk machines that have been managed by another company for quite a while (I don't manage that component) it seems pretty clear that junk settings have probably been manually set much higher. This would explain the inital issues - and perhaps why we might have troubles in the future.
