I'm I doing this thing right ?

typed this in terminal
Code:
sudo apt-get install tor privoxy

then this
Code:
sudo gedit /etc/privoxy/config

uncommented : logfile logfile
uncommented : jarfile jarfile

added this line to privoxy config
Code:
forward-socks4a / localhost:9050 .

restared privoxy service
Code:
sudo /etc/init.d/privoxy restart

installed torbutton

tor enbled ... but moving too slow !

again, I've done the install right ?

You've done the install right.

Have you ever used tor before? It can be quite slow. Try setting some preferred exit nodes as machines that are geographically near you. It's not guaranteed to cut down your latency, but it certainly helps to stay in the neighborhood.

tried on the days when I had windows ... but no luck then !

Try setting some preferred exit nodes as machines that are geographically near you.
can I find a list or how do I know what exit nodes are near me ?

You'll have to look up how to set the preferred ones, it's in a config file somewhere.

I only know how to see which exit nodes you're using in the Vidalia GUI, which is available for Linux and I know it's in my apt repository on Ubuntu. If Linux Mint uses apt it might be available there too.

Just find the exit nodes that have the highest number of "bars" next to it, preferably green bars if you can find one that fast. Start with that one and then pick like the next fastest five or six so that you have options. Tor likes options.
