So...

HOW THE FUCK DO I DO THAT?

lordy.

So, i have 2 servers. 1 is pure mysql. 1 is pure Apache/PHP.
the mysql box, no problems.
the web box, apache is up and running, yeay team.
but, i cannot get php to compile with mysql support.
I am compiling with --with-mysql but this needs a path to mysql, which of course, is not actually on the damn box, so i am stuck. Is there another option, to just install the support by using the source headers from mysql or somethinig?

suggestions?

You need the MySQL headers / includes ... PHP doesn't actually carry all the code to talk to MySQL, it only has bindings to the client (AFAIK). If the two machines are identical, then you *may* be able to move the compiled php libs to the other machine... but that gets a titch dicey (it may be a slam dunk, but I'm a moron when it comes to that sort of thing).

Easiest way would be to do a make install, but just never fire the MySQL up. Everything you need to PHP to bind to it would be there. Then in PHP, you just point your DB connection to another box. That's about the crappiest way to do it, certainly, but I know it will work.
