as the site title says ??  Huh? all small cloaked sites.. php+mysql ? currently on vps 2core with 3k site load is 1.50 average..so before i add few more sites and get kicked by the host i want to move to dedi.. any config recommendation ?  Praise also i read that lighthttp,ngnix or litespeed dosent support htaccess.. so is apache only solution ?

me niether so we'll have to wait for a geek

but i do know that on a vps, your host won't care, it's just that
you might slow down or crash you server, unless they have a limit
of nodes, which some do, it's not the sites, but the traffic that
might cause a problem for you.

(did that make sense?)

Realistically, on a vps, you shouldn't ever get kicked like bompa said. A dedi just means you get the whole box, and all the hassle that comes with that. You need to worry about backups for example.

It's not just a function of number of cores, but also type of processor.
Sandy bridge would destroy a Xeon for example. So 1 sandy core would be way better than 8 Xeon cores.
But really, its a guess. One of the size-on-the-fly solutions might be better. 1and1 has, as does Rackspace. A bit more expensive, but your paying for flex.

I. Had a vps that ran at 100% for over a year straight.

Don't know about the non apache solutions.

@bomps most of them are bots .. i wish g understand crawl delay via robots.txt rather than webmaster central.

@nuts will look in to those 2 companies..
