The whole touchscreen keyboard on a desk idea is generally bad because you can't feel the keys, so you cant line up correctly.

MS had a brilliant/DUH idea. If you cant feel the keys to line up on, then instead, just line up the keys to the hand...  D'oh!

obviously will be important for surface if they ever push it.

That is a good one. It might have a little trouble with me, since I appear (at first glance) to be a touch typist, but my hands are all over the place. The notion, though, is very strong and in 100% the right direction IMO. If (what's under our fingers) is purely virtual, then gestural interfaces, chording and heretofore unconsidered interfaces will all be possible. Me likee.

Of course a chordind interface like the chordboards that currently exist would be easier, but there is no way in hell I will ever learn that. Lol

The link gives 503. But what comes to touch keyboards.. well, I don't believe in them. There's sooooo many problems with aligning and registering "a hit". Just think about how many times you stop writing while you think something but you still rest you fingers on the keys. And with flat keyboards like Apple's it's only few centimeters of movement when you actually type.

I actually once thought that it would be cool to have this chair keyboard. Kinda like accordion keyboard mixed with split ergonomic keyboard. Each piece would rest on your chair's armrest like here BUT they would be more like in the end of the armrests and you should slip your hand in and the hand holder would put it in place and you could feel the keys with your fingers. And it would be removable so you could use it with any chair with armrests. Basically you would just sit and move your fingers. Only problem is how to move mouse because it would be kinda annoying to put your hands in place and then remove them just to move the mouse. But I think this could be fixed with some kind of joystic type of mouse like this. I don't like to use those too but if it would be usable with your thumb I bet I could get used to it. Of course it doesn't replace traditional mouse in some accuracy demanding tasks but with accordion type of keyboard the writing would be really, really fast.
