Ooo, that's got sneak attack written all over it.
Doncha just wonder how much of this kind of sh!t goes on between all the vendors, all the time?
To wit:
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/10/16/apples_snow_leopard_bests_windows_7_in_speed_tests.html...claims that Snow Leopard is gobs faster than Win7. Notice anything though? All the tests are either skewed towards apple or use APPLE'S OWN CODE. Now I don't expect the unwashed masses to understand this, but unless the OS is deeply involved in every step of a program, then a compiled program should not be affected by the OS. In other words, if media encoding is run on a machine with (x) amount of horsepower (all things being equal) then regardless of OS, if should be about the same on any platform (GUI thangs notwithstanding). So how can media encoding be 50% slower on Win7 ... unless there's something written right into the QuickTime encoder that either doesn't optimize or specifically detunes the process for Win7?
I don't really have a problem with it because anyone that believes stats like that deserves what they get, but again, doncha just wonder if there isn't a sneaky trix division at each of the houses?
