"First, the shutdown inadvertently proved that the U.S. government already has all the power it needs to take down its copyright villains, even those that aren't based in the United States. No SOPA or PIPA required."

And that my friends is why all our politicians should be fired, and we should do a constitutional reset of all laws. The fucking lawmakers don't even understand what all the laws mean or give power to do.
OR
They are just powerhungry and think these old slow laws are annoying and they just want to do stuff fast, without the inconvenience of due process.

OR Both.

Or hollywood money lobbies lawmakers to create things that are even more heavily weighted in their direction. Has nothing to do with the good of the people, everything to do with special interest.

Bah.

Now they can all say: "when the people of our great country spoke, we listened"

I would agree if it were not for Citizens United and the law that makes unlimited, unaccountable money from corporations completely acceptable. We can thank our supreme court for allowing perhaps the largest deprecation of individual say in these United States since our inception.
