I like the candid comments about netbook shortcomings.  The netbook seems like a great concept with fatal flaws in bringing it to market.  Perhaps the notion of a "SmartBook" will gain the traction the netbook failed to attain 

You need a touchscreen that supports gestures, as the iPhone has amply demonstrated. A gesture-capable trackpad is fine as an addition for that touchscreen, but not as a replacement.

Apple is not the only company that has claimed the netbook niche to be short lived and underpowered. I think they are the flex-fuel and hybrids of the computer segment ... a bridge to the next step, rather than being the next step. Does it feel to you as well, that we are sort of in a lull before the next big storm? I feel as though there are a whole buncha new things out there are are just on the horizon of being deployed. I believe next year is going to be very, very interesting indeed.

And since it will be the first year out of the Decade from Hell, I am double excited.
