Hi,

Right now, I'd consider myself intermediate level in PHP, and I'm looking to learn another programming language that complements PHP well (one that is more suited toward desktop uses). I want to start writing my own small desktop applications (e.g. a custom-made PPC campaign creator). I've done some research and read some forums, and I suppose my main choices right now are C#, or Python.

Can anyone offer any other suggestions for a language suited for this purpose or offer their opinion on which language (C# or Python) for be better for writing small desktop apps?

Thanks in advance.

Yes - something to speed the process of generating adgroups fast, sort/filter keywords, etc.

What is the target Operating System?

Windows will be the target OS.

if you want desktop gui then i'd go with c# + visual studio.
if you just need cmd line apps the go with python.

I would never recommend visual studio. You'll never learn what makes a GUI "go". Python or PHP are decent for windows desktop with proper GTK plugins.

Something I've been meaning to check out:

Probably similar to every other language. Blits to a console. Often, if you run a console app not from the console, it will just be quiet.

Im gonna say go with delphi and its Rapid Application Development.
If you need any help i can assist you.  Or if you need to "borrow" a
copy for evaluation purposes.   Devilish  Is this an application you are
going to be deploying or is it something your writing so that
you can use it?
