Blodgett: "bottom line, Apple's not likely to have the gigantic two-year lead in the tablet market they had in cell phones."

Then Blodgett shows Goog's concept tablet.

Jobs has just this week told Apple employees that they should make no mistake, Big Evil Google has them in its crosshairs. It doesn't seem like much of a leap to expand the screen on the Nexus into a tablet. And, like Wal-mart benefited by K-Mart's mistakes, the nexPad could just poll the backlash and design it to better suit the masses. Both have brand recognition. G has more money. A has more pinache. Hard to say who'd win between them but the public would certainly benefit.

K-Mart said much the same re others. I was leasing to them at the time.

<added>
We just bulldozed K-mart's building a couple of years ago.

"What? We need to provide customer support?"
ROFLMAO

I think the problems are transient RC - the iPod had troubles, so did the phone. In fairness, Apple is much more vetted for handling hardware issues than Google but Google is not stupid. They'll figure it out, or get out.

The real question will be how they deal with lotsalotsa success and PEBCAK or customers that are ID-10-T (if they are so fortunate). Success and mediocre clients may be a much bigger problem than hardware glitches and and small customer base. Paging Delhi ...

step closer:
Nexus One enables multitouch in Browser, Gallery, and Maps

Realistically, the Nexus support clusterf*ck will be forgotten. History shows us that the public will put up with extraordinary amounts of abuse before they finally start rebelling (see the major cell providers as an example).  My guess is that G will subcontract the support to the hardware manufacturer, where it'll probably suck.
