Google Analytics? Didn't make it, bought it from Urchin.
Google Docs? Didn't make it, bought it from Writely.
Google Earth? Didn't make it, bought it from Keyhole.
Google AdSense? Didn't make it, bought it from Applied Semantics.
Google AdWords? Didn't make it, copied it from Goto.com.
Google Chrome? Didn't make it, just slapped a UI on Apple WebKit.
FeedBurner? Didn't make it, didn't even rename the company.
Google Maps? Didn't make it, bought it from Where 2 Technologies.

Funny enough. I can't fault them for it though. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Google, their business acumen in knowing A Good Thing when they see it is, imo, not one of them.

yep, making stuff from scratch frankly blows. Its usually much better to just buy something. lol (this from the guy that wrote his own project management software because all the off the shelf stuff sucks.)
