www.google.com and switch to Classic view if you have iGoogle on.  Click the link in the lower-left and select a default photo or pick one from your PC.  Looks nice but it's not very original

It's better than their old, 90s style interface though.

"It only took a few hours of intensely negative feedback in all of the major social networks (along with "how to remove background from Google," and its many variants, reaching the top-ten most searched items) for Google to prematurely pull the plug on the 24 hour demo."

If you hated yesterday's forced-wallpapering of Google Search, you weren't alone:

Yep it was like a brush fire of disdain.  It's amazing to me how when you give something away for free people become righteously indignant when anything changes or any outages are experienced.  Amazing psychology that happens when someone pays so much as literally 1 penny for anything as opposed to nothing at all.  The world acts like it owns Google when the reverse is probably more accurate

In terms of uptime, I experience more problems with ATMs being out of order than Google.  Take that to the bank Smiley

Isn't it the truth ... it's free, so I have huge gripe rights when it's flapping. Remembering when Facebook had that 9 hour outage last year and you'd've thunk the sky was falling.

ITTO I believe you probably remember back in the Prospect days, that the only clients we EVER had troubles with were those that got a deal.  Roll Eyes

Will never forget that either.  Drop the price even further and they feel enthroned enough to demand that you try different color shades all day long to match their seasonal tastes.  Charge a few million and all they expect is some useless, 2-page gap analysis report Wink  (be cleeeeever, add leeeeeeevers).

Naah, they probably utilized some sort of measurement how fast you loaded the background photo and then sell this information forward to advertisers as optimization data.

Hell I'd rather just pay upfront for the background upgrade than get swindled like that.  What monsters!  Free is actually costing me more than if I simply paid first.  What was I thinking?!?!

[sips his mochalattechino-frappeswirl and resumes online shopping on his prominently displayed iPad, at Starbucks, smiling awkwardly with spiraly eyes]

Wait a minute... shit I'm an idiot!  If I payed for the background upgrade they would probably still sell this information forward anyway!!  Curses, I'd be a sucker twice, not just once.

 ROFLMAO ROFLMAO

Kidding aside, it is amazing the power of suggestion that paying for something upfront has on the mind.  Most everyone would never look at the fine print and those who actually did wouldn't even understand it.  But seeing dollars leave your wallet somehow feels more fair to some people, like the exchange was completely understood and nothing was hidden from it.

The best part about getting it for free upfront is that at least they can only screw you once, not twice

This is why I love bar girls  ROFLMAO
Like all things they come in different levels. If you are in manila, one of the best is http://classmatektv.thegentlemansclub.com.ph

It is a fantasy world, you pay $$$$ the girl pretends to be interested in you. You pretend that the girl really is interested in you because your a cool person or some crap like that  ROFLMAO
Even more interesting is the "story". Why they work in the club etc. A good bar girl always has a good "story"  ROFLMAO

It imitates real life. The "story" is that big banks need tons of gov't handouts otherwise if they collapse then the entire world will cease to exist.
Of course like the "club" the chump (taxpayer) gives the big bank tons of money, which probably then spent in classmate (the other club) by the bankers.
Maybe that is where the bankers learned how to con chumps out of their money in the first place.

Of course in the "club" you get the company of a charming young lady. And generally speaking a good time. And if you get "screwed" it is a good thing.
While with the big bank you do not even end up getting screwed, you are just minus a whole bunch of money and feel violated.
I guess it is hard for ugly guys like steve jobs, presidents/ceo's of various cooperations to compete with the young ladies who work at classmate.

What pisses people off is when you point this out.  They need to believe the girls actually are interested in them  ROFLMAO
