Freebase from Metaweb promises to be an awesome tool I plan to leverage, if it works as advertised. The 3 minute YouTube intro sums it up nicely.

Freebase was awesome until Google came and fucked it up. Now if you use and contribute to it, you are just helping Google to dig their claws deeper.
