The most popular games on the ipad and phone are those types, or similar. the 3d shit seems to be not so much.
but hell, if you can make fun games, pure JS, then you could cover 80% of the game desire.

Yeah .. I think it's the controls that ruin most of the 3D games when played with touchscreen. At least I haven't been able to enjoy any 3D shooter with iPhone because of controls.

When this gets done, there's very little need for Flash anymore. I think Flash will stay for a long time for it's webcam/mic capabilities. Those could be done with java applet but I'm not sure if java's penetration is even close to Flash's.

aber wieso denn nicht? flash war auch mal nicht mehr als ein spielzeug für simple animationen, und jetzt gibts mmorpgs auf der plattform. schau mal auf kongregate, newgrounds & co ... außerdem, was sind schon dynamische websites - gmail? google docs? javascript hat in den letzten jahren durch die neuen engines - nitro, v8 & tracemonkey - ordentlich an bedeutung gewonnen, da stehen wir erst ganz am anfang
