US court of appeals in Tampa rules that porn legally made in California is illegal in Florida -- on the Internet
http://techdirt.com/articles/20100205/1309128066.shtml

Commercial porn --similar alcohol sales, gambling, strip joints, and prostitution-- has traditionally been managed by a community-by-community application of standards.  Then the internet globalized it.  Before you say it can't be contained, I remember everyone saying online gambling couldn't be contained, either.

Wow holy shit ... "held to the standards of the strictest communities..." that is draconian. What will be interesting, though, is the notion that a CA based company can be charged by a Florida court and have any bearing at all. It's not a federal thing (until the Supremes rule ... but given the conservative nature of the court ATM I'm a bit concerned) so I am really curious how that will play out.

This country frightens me more and more each day.

I expect to see lots of these crackpot issues heading up there following the recent ruling regarding business contributions to political parties, candidates, etc.  The conservatives won big on that issue and they probably feel the only way they are going to get anything done at this point is through the judicial branch.  It's perhaps their strongest hand to play right now.

So let's have a round of applause for the NeoCons!  With a little luck we'll finally have prayer in our public schools.  And that will be the time I'll start bitching about how our tax dollars are being spent  ROFLMAO

And then America can not figure out why thier economy is going to shit.
As bad as things are in the filipinas .......
Don't get me wrong they have lots of stupid laws here, fortunately no one ever follows them and they are never enforced.
I guess i am never going to go back to USA again Sad

America is plagued by bombastic simpletons.  Everyplace has its challenges.  Over here it's battling idiocracy.  Other places it's avoiding the firing squad for having an impure thought about the commander in chief.  But I'll take freedom over fear any day.

Whoa!!  Is itto waxing patriotic??  Hell no!  I'm planning to produce and sell American flag toilet paper to the red states.  They eat a lot out there too...

I honestly do not know what to think about USA.

Like here every few months police to make themselves look like they are actually doing something have a "crack down" of some sort.
It is kinda a drama of some sort, all staged etc.

Last month it was "replica toy guns"
I guess toy guns are very dangerous according to the commander and chief of the national police.
So in manila they "raided" a replica gun shop, like a zillion of police, all heavily armed etc, ofcourse news media was there to film it all. Chief then has a media conference, tells us all we are much safer, but kinda with a fiesta atmosphere.

I am kinda perplexed why toy guns are dangerous.
When things like this can be purchased in any market

this one is down right scarey
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96YA9Q2qptA&feature=related

And all the private armies have like a zillion guns etc, and there is enuff illegal guns floating around to start another world war.

Anyway i feel a lot safer knowing that there a less replica guns on the streets.

I don't know nop.  It sounds awfully similar over there.  You just perfectly described our endless and ridiculous war on drugs.  Some giant pile of dope shows up on the news.  No one knows how big it was before the news footage started rolling, yet everyone knows the pile is far smaller than is was when they "broke in."  Same with the confiscated 5 million thousand dollars.

The unspoken dirty secret about the whole sick cycle is this.  We all know what's going on and we're all willing to trade our personal liberties and freedoms for a false sense of security.

Nice coin of Benjy, who made a similar famous. There'll be no trading of freedom for security here mate.

The difference is no one takes it serious here.
When the raid happens, it is like a fiesta type atmosphere.

Then after a few weeks they get bored with this.
Then there is maybe a new sex scandal.
Like who is the governor's current mistress. Or how many mistresses does paquio have.

Then maybe week after that they decide to crack down on some other crap.
