Ok seriously. it can't possibly be this hands on can it?

I mean, do you really HAVE to set up each database in the My.cnf?Huh?

that just seems stupid.
I want to create a database on my master and have it automagically replicate to slave... am i looking under the wrong rocks?

Nope, I think you're right. I believe that all replication must be defined and in the .cnf - and before run time as well.

I'd imagine that writing a little shell script to down the DB, modify the cnf then up the DB again wouldn't be that bad, but it's not built to work that way AFAIK.
