mobile me. they need to do a "lite" version for just the phone location and security features. I have ZERO need for the rest of that crap, nor do most biz users i think.
PinkHat and I use MobileMe and it's great for this one thing: purchase a single account, then we both sync calendars and address books from it, computers and iPhones as well. It really works well - our desks, notebooks and phones are all sync'd up flawlessly. The shared drive is also handy for keeping certain files I want syncd on all machines as well. I have several clients doing the same now and they love it as well. pretty much plug and play goodness.

battery. um wtf? did i get a bad phone? we shall see tomorrow on a full night of charge...
No kidding... in fairness, I used the crap out of mine yesterday, but I burned a *lot* of battery compares to what I'd normally expect. I think the reports of "leaving it on 3G beat you up" are true...

Did not do well in the miata at 70mph with the top down though, which is when I would need it most... LOL
Agree - Pink's 300c yes, highway in the Jeep, no.

...is that the keyboard now keeps up with me.  As a result, my on-screen typing is MUCH more accurate... I realize now that the typing lag was actually responsible for many of the typos I used to experience with the old iPhone.  I always blamed the touch screen; turns out it was the slow CPU.
I also find that typing widescreen is a big help - emailing fast with the little keyboard and the delay was challenging at times. It does seem to do exactly what you'd expect it to now.

I used a similar screen protector with my original iPhone, and it did its job and protected the screen.  But it's so hard to get those things on without a speck of dust or an air bubble ruining the whole thing.  I'm wondering if the screen protection is really necessary?  Am I likely to scratch the screen carrying the phone in my pocket if I don't protect it?
I had one on the 2G for a while, hated it. This is glass we're talking about here - I don't know about you, but without diamond-tipped keys being crammed into my pocket there's nothing I've carried that's managed to scratch my old screen. I think some of that is FUD. I just don't know about the olephobic... is it glazed into the glass or something? I really hope it stays strong through the life of the phone.

@mobileme
Meh, google for domains works like exchange server now. only thing missing is the photo sync, but thats what flickr is for.

@screen protectors.
don't bother. I jsut went through this exercise.

The new screen is a dust magnet and you CANNOT get all the dust off. Its impossible.
on top of it, I get the impression the screen casing changed size ever so slightly, so 3g protectors dont fit "inside" the edges and as a result have a perma-bubble on one end.
at least the one you get from att.

anyone know where the cheapest dock is I can buy?

Dunno if it's the cheapest, but this one looks pretty good, thinking about buying one, I miss the one that came with my 2G iPhone.

Yeah the keyboard on mine has a rough time keeping up with me.

I'm sure we'll get 3GS iPhones within the next couple of months. I've been eligible for an upgrade for some time now.

@ dust magnet: man, do we have opposite experience. Mine is staying pristine - I mean *pristine*. I'm thoroughly impressed.
@ screen casing: the whole thing's geometry is just ever so slightly off - even though it looks to be the same rectilinear measurements, Pink's old casing will not work either.

Have you guys checked out this http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/124232620/big-week ultrasn0w thing that breaks carrier lock? That's excellent news because the only reason I never got 3G version was because you couldn't get it unlocked. I had one of the first iPhones here in Finland and I refuse to take those carrier deals so maybe I'll finally get 3GS version Smiley

ok battery is fine.
the problem is my bose sound dock. We got it a few years ago for spending absurdamountofmoney with Getty Images, among much other swag. It charged the v1, but it does NOT charge the 3gs (and apparently the 3g). Dammit. We use it at night running a sound app to have rain or ocean sound in our bedroom. time to beg for more swag...

I hate when they change the How It Charges bit. I have an older iHome clock radio - plugged my 2G phone into it about a year ago and it fried it! (Fortunately, Apple did not question how the phone got that way and replaced it under warranty...) I am pretty skiddish about what I plug into my phone now
