The government already tackled this in the auto industry. It's illegal to cancel a car's warranty if you go get it serviced by a certified mechanic who is not associated with the manufacturer of your car.

Soon enough, it should go that way in computing. We've already determined that it's criminal to stifle competition in just the way Apple has always tried to do.
