You betcha - did it the day it came out. ITTO is one of the 5,000. It's not specifically about the iPad but Apple's continued support of DRM. It's way beyond time for Apple to reject this failed attempt at "protecting IP." Apple lost their financial "hall pass" and can no longer hide behind the necessity card. By continuing to support DRM they are not only pocketing cash as an accomplice to this crime, they are siding with the art mafia in an attempt to secure their market dominance. Not cool. DRM=Apple until Apple grows some balls and does the right thing. Or if it's not a matter of courage but rather a philosophical agreement between Apple and the IP extremists, then Apple is actively choosing the wrong team.

The perks of being a card carrying FSF member. Yikes I just realized something. Using perks and FSF in the same sentence seems odd (tag you're it perkiset!)

You totally misread me ITTO. FSF, much like spontaneity, has it's time and place Side note: Why is it that Apple is singled out all the time? Were it not for Apple, we may still be purchasing albums rather than single songs, and single songs with DRM rather than free of it. Movies currently offer the FairPlay model to stop casual copying but it's not a real inhibitor and offers purchasers of content (like myself) the ability to run it wherever we want it. Do we really believe that Steveo could have gone to 50 publishers in New York with a"Let me sell your content, at less than you've ever sold it for and remove any mechanism you'd have to protect yourself" model? Good luck with all of that. These things take time. The notion that the iPad is bad because it doesn't stand on the rather naive principals that all software and content must be free (as in speech) without allowing for the dynamics of time to do their work, is just fluffy linkbait IMO. It'll all get there soon enough. Once content is totally digitized it is simply a matter of time ... similarly, the public needs time to adjust itself on how it spends money on content. I don't think that can be underestimated.

>Why is it that Apple is singled out all the time? I assumed this would be obvious. Here's a cyclically missed point. I have nothing against Apple. On the contrary, Apple is a technology company that produces and sells hardware, software and really cool gadgets. Apple has been a key innovator in my field, in our field. Compared to ConAgra Foods, Apple shines like my future ex-wife. If anything I treat Apple like my own child that needs guidance when misbehaving. I'd have Procter & Gamble plunger raped until proven innocent before wasting a keystroke on them. Apple has disappointed me but if anything they have my favor compared to other, publicly traded companies perpetuating the profit pyramid sham that suggests that if you are not lazy, choose to devote the time and energy, that you will make lots of money. These attributes may be essential to making lots of money but they hardly guarantee it. I'm honestly tempted to refrain from answering the question because I don't believe it will ever be heard. But I'll try again. The degree of my concern is directly proportional to the degree of impact, or potential impact, that a company has in their sphere of influence. So as it pertains to "Intellectual Property" issues, my focus is on those with the greatest amount of influence and impact in the world. No one argues for Microsoft these days (excluding nop's recent exception) and would quickly agree with how unfair they are regarding "ownership" of various technologies. This has NOTHING to do with Apple. This has EVERYTHING to do with fairness, freedom and my personal mission to break people out of their entrenched beliefs if and only if those beliefs directly or indirectly cause harm to others. I believe so deeply that many aspects of IP law literally harm the defenseless, invisibly. Not "all" aspects of IP law mind you. I'm a fierce supporter of the people and if this means some person who invested their life savings to focus on nothing but a patent that will hopefully provide food for her family then you betcha I'm a patent supporter for her. It's just not reality in my experience yet we're constantly made to feel sympathy for some non-existent sea of suffering inventors who might just go on strike and stop inventing things unless we change our ways and give them exclusivity, mini-monopolies, etc. etc. It's poop - deep down and on the steamy brown surface. I truly believe we're fooled and programmed into supporting this facade for the true and truly invisible benefactors. I'd recommend reading up on the following if you're interested to know more about where I'm coming from on this and other issues: Manufacturing Consent

I understand what you are saying. And we are on the same page regarding IP law - it needs to be refactored. That said, I think you ignore some very simple, yet profound, economic factors.

I seriously wonder if you believe the crap you write about apple, or if you are getting paid to post this rubbish. Apple is little better then M$, actually even though i own many apple products they are worse then M$. Fuking MP3 players etc, have been around for a lot longer then IPOD. And you could buy MP3 online ages before apple opening their stupid online store, with their crappy itunes interface that tries to get you to constantly to buy their stupid products . Like the article "iphone/ipad is going to revolutionize the medical industry" Fuking BS article, there has been a company making medical programs for pocketpc devices for the last 8 years. Now on the other hand if it would not be for nop_90 ......... Well you would not have air to breath, or food to eat, or the rains would not come and all the crops would die. For is it not nop_90 that causes the sun to rise, and to set. And is it not nop_90 that created the laws of physics that allow electrons to pass through metal so we can have computer devices, and the internet ? And when disaster strikes, people ask "why does nop_90 allow this ?" For they forget that in the beginning nop_90 created "Steve Jobs" to allow people to have entertainment. And then "Steve Jobs" thought that he could rule the universe, and so nop_90 cast him out of heaven. And now "Steve Jobs" attempts to subvert man kind with his evil ipods and iphones. For when people listen to ipods and iphones, they forget about thier great benovolent maker nop_90. As the prophets warned, nop_90 being a kind being, has sent warnings like 911 and Hurricane Katrina. But still the people turn thier back on nop_90. People often curse nop_90, but yet when their lives are in danger, is it not his name they call out "nop_90 save me !!!!"

But God damn it these are tough times that cry out for tough saviours, non-verbally, so shut up. Furthermore, and I am NOT suggesting that I've said anything of substance to this point, have you seen my car keys?

Its a miracle Its a miracle I keep on hearing about these tuff times. Then again in PH it has been one constant "crisis" since i got here 7+ years ago. I've lost track of the attempted coups etc. I have even lost track about which "crisis" we are in now Rest of the world is in crisis, but since PH always in crisis things are normal here
